Style Theory: The Preppy look, timeless and sophisticated but with a 2014 twist. Think blazers, cricket jumpers brought up to date with distressed jeans and heels.
I have been a fan of the Preppy look for years, dipping in and out of it throughout the year. It is a style that makes me feel a little more 'put together', smarter than my usual casual, schoolrun uniform. When Henri Lloyd, the original British sailing brand, sent me this gorgeous Caralyn Knit Blazer and Beverley Cable V-neck cricket style jumper I was sold. My love for all things Preppy was re-ignited but to make it 2014 I paired it with my distressed 7 for all Mankind jeans and tan sandals.
I have had a small obsession with cricket jumpers since Kate Moss wore one in early 2012 and after buying a few over the last few years this Henri Lloyd is my favourite more affordable than the Rag and Bone cricket 'Talia' jumper and it fits beautifully.
The Details:
Jumper: c/o Henri Lloyd Cable V Neck Knit £75
Knitted Blazer: c/o Caralyn Knit Blazer £95
Jeans: 7 For All Mankind similar here (my jeans are naturally distressed due to wear!)
Sandals: H&M £39.99
The knit blazer has been so useful, it is a fabulous for layering underneath heavier jackets or a trench on colder days or by to smarten up a pair of jeans.

Appropriate for the schoolrun and trotting up Kings Road, I do love a touch of the preppy look and think I will be indulging in it for the next few years to come, that mixed in with a bit of boho this summer!
Are you a fan of the preppy look, what are your 'must haves' you bring out year after year?
As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time Frances x
What a super look - Its a great mix. The blazer has a nice vintage 60's vibe to it as well as in the TV series The Prisoner. Love the mixture of blazer and cricket top with distressed jeans / heels.

ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle, I imagine you will do the preppy look so well x
DeleteOh you really suit this look, great pieces!! I have been looking at the cricket jumper in the Boden catalogue for awhile......... I have a similar jacket - a Ralph Lauren in grey that I sometimes struggle to style, I may steal your idea of layering under my mac. Thank you....x
ReplyDeleteYour Ralph Lauren jacket would be fab under a mac xx
DeleteYou look absolutely stunning! I love the preppy look ... it appeals to my neat side! You look great pairing it with distressed jeans - I'd look utterly ridiculous so would probably pair it with regular skinnies. But oh, how I love the jacket!
ReplyDeleteAh thanks, I reckon you could rock distressed jeans! xx
DeleteGreat look, love how you've brought it up to date with the ripped jeans & shoes! x
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Sian x

Thanks, must admit the blazer is proving to be so useful x
DeleteLOVE the cricket jumper - Boden have done some fab ones too in the past. xx
ReplyDeleteThis look suits you so much. I love it. H xx
ReplyDeleteOh I'm feeling the love for jersey and knit jackets - I think they look amazing and I adore how you've styled it here.....you're seriously rocking the preppy look x
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I love everything about this look on you. The jumper is such a lovely fresh look on you. I've searched and searched for good cricket jumpers in the past but they weren't in at the time and all my searches returned some horrible boys acrylic numbers which wasn't quite what I had in mind. The shoes are on order - I went for the black colourway and then decided I still don't get on with black shoes and have just sent them back. Besides you can't beat a pair of fab tan heels anyway.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm also kicking myself for not getting your Zara strappy shoes when I had the chance. I snoozed.
Cute preppy look! I would love to invite you to participate in my Victoria's Secret GC giveaway. Details in my latest post!
