Kate Moss X Topshop

Kate Moss launches her new collection for Topshop this evening in Oxford Street and tomorrow online  (Topshop and Net a Porter). This is Kate's first collection for Topshop in 4 years and is based on her own personal favourite pieces of clothing and style heroines. Be prepared for lots of fringing, 70s boho looks and pyjama dressing...!

It is obviously very Kate Moss and as we are all not supermodels some pieces will be more wearable than others, the silver lame maxi dress for example would be a tricky style to wear, however there are few pieces in the collection that are timeless and chic and will be 'hard workers' in your wardrobe. Her collection is 'going out' heavy with very few daytime pieces which is a shame as I love her day to day wear. Nevertheless here are my favourites and how I would wear them:
Sequin Embroidered Mesh Jacket £85
This would look fab on holiday over a white vest top, pale blue distressed jeans and some flat metallic sandals for a relaxed dressed up look.
Beaded Fringe Jacket £225
I love the idea of this jacket being dressed down, worn with jeans and heels and a pale grey tee. Or worn over a black jumpsuit. It is expensive but the style is timeless so would be a 'keeper'.
One Shoulder Chiffon Dress £85
Iconic Kate Moss dress copy, Kate looked stunning in a similar lemon yellow vintage dress bought from an LA vintage shop and worn by Kate in 2003. This style still works today and looks great in vibrant green and yellow but is also available in black. This dress I would wear with fine strappy gold sandals and maybe an animal print clutch to make it a little more 2014.
As above

Long Fringe Tassel Dress £95
As with all the clothes this dress looked exceptional on Kate, I like it as it is a little different, not sure how annoying the tassels would get on a night out though?! It would look cool with tan shoe-boots and a cute bucket bag.
Scallop Shorts £46
Very cute, I would wear these with a little chambray shirt and cut out brogue shoes or strappy flat sandals.
Aztec Print Sundress £60
A beautiful day to evening summer holiday dress, wear during the day with black thin Havianas and then in the eve with metallic sandals.
Embroidered Smock Blouse £60
This would look great with a pair of black ankle length skinny jeans and flat metallic sandals.
Embroidered Smock Dress £75
A great dress to throw over a bikini wear with with tan leather flat strappy sandals.
Paisley Print Chiffon Scarf £45
This would look cool in a Kate Moss/Jamie Hince way over an slouchy grey tee, blue skinny jeans, slouchy tan suede boots and a black blazer.
What do you have your eye on, is there anything that appeals to you and will work in your wardrobe?
As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, Frances xxx

The 2014 Denim Jumpsuit

Style Theory: The 'double denim' look is now acceptable, so how about making life a little easier and embracing the Denim jumpsuit? It is a perfect pull-on-and-go item that can be easily dressed up with a pair of heels or dressed down with metallic or jewelled sandals. It looks edgy, is fabulously comfortable and as it is denim, it goes with pretty much any jacket/coat (with the exception of a denim jacket) are you ready to give it a go?
Balmain SS14
Here are the best looks from the streetstylers:
This is the MiH boilersuit belted looks fab with the red clutch.
Kate Moss has been working the boilersuit look for years and always looks fabulous.

Jessical Alba wears silver sandals with her denim jumpsuit.

A silver statement necklace looks fab with a denim jumpsuit, Rachel Zoe shows it styled to perfection.

Love this look, the pastels, the red bag, the denim jumpsuit..just stunning
All images above from Pinterest

As you can see from the images above, it is best to keep footwear feminine, denim jumpsuits look fab with strappy heels and for the daytime keep footwear girly by wearing metallic or jewelled sandals, this is not a birkenstock outfit. Mix with pastel (pale blues and greys) cardigans and add a pop of colour  by clashing your pastels with a bright red bag (as in the last image).

The denim jumpsuit is so versatile and as with all jumpsuits you have to be prepared to try on quite a few different styles to find the right cut which will fit your body shape and flatter you. I think they look better baggier, they tend to look too 80s when tight so if in doubt try a bigger size to compare.

Here are the best available on the high street now:

MiH Boiler Suit at Matches £295

Topshop Moto Tencel Denim Boilersuit £68
Topshop Moto Denim Jacquard Boilersuit £68

Zara Denim Jumpsuit £39.99
Warehouse Jumpsuit £65
Mango Tencel Jumpsuit £59.99

Boohoo Linnea Acid Wash Jumpsuit  £20
Primark Boilersuit £17 (in store)

Denim jumpsuits are such a cool, easy option for a summer evening out. I have ordered the Mango and Zara jumpsuit, I am normally a small in Zara but had to size up as it was a bit too poofy in the small

I am a huge fan of jumpsuits I have a black one I bought from Jigsaw and I have worn it for years here it is a few years ago and I still wear it to loads of parties and on holiday each year:

My Style:

Easter City Break...In Pictures..

Style Theory: A break away with the Husband and kids to beautiful Barcelona to see my two sisters and their families...pure heaven.....
Here's a look at the long weekend in pictures...I could have stayed for weeks!:

Barcelona Zoo
La Pedrera by Gaudi Paseo de Gracia

Barrio Gotico the Gothic Quarter

Cupcakes in the Barrio Gotico

Barceloneta beach Paseo Maritimo

W Hotel Barceloneta

Salt Bar Barceloneta

Gava Mar

Monjuic cable car ride up to the castle
My Style: For a city break with kids....
Practicality was the most important factor when I was packing, I knew we would be doing a fair amount of walking and the weather would be mixed. So first, comfy footwear..my reliable New Balance trainers were a must and for my clothing light layers with a touch of cashmere thrown in for luxurious warmth. I overpacked for the kids (as usual...with them you just never know what will happen day to day) so my space was fairly limited so  my selection of clothing was all basic in a palette of navy, cream, black and denim so it could all be mixed and matched. I will blog this week on packing a stylish, capsule wardrobe so keep a look out....

My Outfits:
For travelling and first day:
Jeans: MiH Paris jeans £190
Jumper: Whistles cashmere jumper similar here
Shirt: H&M £14.99 similar here
Trainers: New Balance similar here
Day 1..it was the hottest day so my jumpsuit and sandals were perfect:
Jumpsuit: River Island similar here
Sandals: Dune similar here
Bag: H&M £19.99
Day 2: A day of walking round Barcelona seeing the beautiful sights (sandals were swapped for trainers mid afternoon!)

Jacket: Pull and Bear @Asos £21.50
T-Shirt: H&M similar here
Jeans: Topshop Baxter £40
Bag: H&M as above
Sandals: H&M £39.99
Day 3: All black and snakeskin shoes!
Jumper: Cos £49
Jeans: Zara £39.99
Bag: H&M as above
Watch: Fossil £125

It was the most fabulous Easter weekend, Barcelona is truly a beautiful city, small enough to cover the most gorgeous areas in a weekend and of course my sisters being there makes it extra special.

If you fancy planning a City Break with or without kids check out my sisters blog Las Calles De Barcelona  - it is a London girls insider's guide to Barcelona...she has impeccable taste and knows all the best places to go from hotels to restaurants to bars to amazing rooftop terraces...

Next time: The Denim all in one...love them or hate them they are big for summer...I lovvve them!
Until next time, Frances xxx

Spring Boots.....My Style

My Style: It has been a glorious Easter so far, the weather has been beautiful, sunshine, no rain and just a little cold breeze in the air. The perfect weather for dresses, boots and jackets.
This is a look that can only work in certain weather, in the height of the summer I find boots too hot and in the winter I wear my boots with jeans for warmth but for now it is perfect. Today I wore my new boots courtesy of Seven Boot Lane and threw a denim dress on with them. They are a buttery soft suede in a pale sand colour and fit perfectly into the boho/western look. Fringed boots have been an obsession of mine thanks to the almighty Isabel Marant and her boots for H&M and the fringe detail at the side of these boots is perfect, it adds a cool twist making them just a little different. I chose the neutral colour to ensure they did not look too heavy and can be worn with everything from black or blue skinny jeans to floral and white cotton, summer dresses, they will see me through the summer to next winter and beyond.

THE DETAILS:
Boots: Seven Boot Lane 'Beth' Boots £160
Dress: Levis similar here
Bomber Jacket: Pull and Bear @ASOS £21.50
Watch: Fossil £125

I will team them with black skinny jeans and a grey t-shirt for a rockier look and my blue skinny jeans and chambray shirt for a smarter outfit over the next couple of weeks.

No doubt you will see these boots popping up time and time again as I wear them throughout the seasons, they are the kind of boots that as they age will keep looking great!

Are you a fan of 'Spring' boots, do you like wearing them with dresses or do you stick to jeans?

As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, till next time Frances x
