Style theory: The Stylish Christmas Day Dress. This is a very different dress from a party dress, it is a dress you feel fabulous in but can play in, cook the Christmas dinner in and most importantly eat a hideous amount of food in.
I always find jersey material works best for a Christmas Day dress, I like a high waistband and pleats or a shift/trapeze dress to cover my ever expanding waistline. Dark colours work best, can be paired with opaque a tights/leather leggings and a bright block colour winter coat for impact if you are off out for Christmas lunch.
Here are some styling ideas from the streetstylers:
Love the leather leggings worn underneath the dress and dramatic cream cloak |
Adore the voluminous skirt. |
The neck and cuff detail on this cute dress makes it extra special. |
Casual sweater dress styled to look super chic |
Denim dresses can work from summer through to winter with opaques and boots |
Cute plaid dress |
Me&Em Pocket Swing Dress £198 I love this dress, it is very expensive but made with wool stretch crepe which drapes beautifully, it would look amazing over leather leggings. Unfortunately the fur snood is extra but the styling is perfect. I will add a fur snood (the Hobbs one seen on my last post) to my Christmas day look below for the actual day. |
Urban Outfitters Little White Lies Boyfriend Fringe Dress £87 A cute easy wear dress with fabulous neck detail. |
Urban Outfitters Pins & Needles Skater Dress £48 A really good basic dress, I love the V-neck and the pleats, they hide a multitude of sins. |
Whistles Bodycon Dress £125 Stretchy and flattering. |
Whistles Camo Dress £175 Somewhat of a statement dress, it looks fab with thick tights and black ankle boots. I love this and will most definitely be keeping an eye out for any pre Christmas reductions. |
Levis Capped Sleeve Dress £80 I have been looking at this dress since the summer and I love the cape sleeves. I think I will have to make a trip up to London to try on as it will either be a complete hit or the waistband will hit in the wrong place. |
Zara Sleeveless Dress £49.99 A gorgeous, basic dress in a beautiful colour, would look so lovely under a camel coat or teamed with grey. |
Zara Wool Dress £109 This is so chic and stylish and would also look fabulous with a camel coat thrown over the top, or equally good with a biker jacket and big scarf. |
Zara Dress with Funnel Neck £35.99 The funnel neck and colour of this dress make it particularly eye-catching. |
Hobbs Philippa Dress @ House Of Fraser Now £79 Stunning, camel is big news for SS14 so this is definitely worth buying. I see it with a grey or black full length coat black opaques and leopard print shoes. Stack bracelets and cuffs up on your wrist to toughen it up a little. |
Topshop Boucle Sweater Dress £38 Easy wear. |
Asos Mademoiselle Tara Structured Sweater Dress with Collar £122.50 Wear with black opaques and spikey heels 'dressed up dressed down' prefection. |
