Outfit Post: I love a splash of colour, especially if the colours clash. I find colour flatters and can 'lift' an outfit, as long as I can dress the look down with a pair of distressed jeans or trainers to balance the overall effect and avoid the outfit looking too shouty. My yellow Zara coat, orange H&M bag and new Boden shoes on paper shouldn't work..but I think they kind of do, especially on a beautiful Spring, sunny day...

For the last few seasons Boden has had a stand out pair of shoes that encapsulates the mood and colours of the season. For Autumn/winter 2014 it was the beautiful encrusted, crystal flat pumps and this Spring it is these beautiful 'Alice' shoes. Mine were part of a gift from my sisters for my birthday (thanks girls xx) and I love the colourway. The shoes come in two heel heights and five different colourways, mine above and these..

The high heels are 8.5cms, the mid heels are a very walkable 6cms, perfect for a spring or summer wedding guest outfit.
However, as I have only one wedding this year and any exciting events are few and far between, I have been looking for ways to dress down my shoes to make them more wearable for family lunches at the pub and evenings out at local restaurants with friends (not the schoolrun, trainers only for me chasing after the kids on their scooters acting like BMX bandits!)
Here are a few ideas of how I will be wearing my Boden Alice heels..
Blouse - Zara £39.99 Dungarees - H&M £29.99 Cardigan - Boden £49 Shoes - Boden £119 |
Breton top - Petit Bateau £58 Blazer - Zara £49.99 Jeans - Levis 501 CT at House Of Fraser now £75 Shoes - Boden £119 |
Comfort with style is my fashion mantra, I would always rather be slightly dressed down as I do not work in an office everyday therefore I feel more comfortable this way.
How about you, do embrace the opportunity to dress smartly, are you a statement shoe fan? Are you a shoe or bag person..which shoes are catching your eye this season? As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, thanks so much for reading, until next time, Frances xxx
I really want a yellow coat after reading this post Frances and I love all those Boden shoes:) Have a great week!

Are you still saying that yellow isn't your colour?? Looks fab and love how you've styled it x
ReplyDeleteThese shoes are perfect & I think you have the best colour way. I like the outfit with the Breton top & blazer :) x
ReplyDeleteI love them, but have decided to buy the Lille flats instead. I love your styling idea with your dungarees and that pretty Zara blouse. I do love these shoes, I am sure I will order them before the season's out (that is if they don't sell out beforehand!)
ReplyDeleteI really do love them and the pink ones have been in and out of my basket for weeks but do I really need another pair of heels. I love how brave you are with colour. Your outfit looks amazing x
ReplyDeleteFantastic colour mixing. Just fabulous. xxx
ReplyDeleteI love colour my current crush is orange but just ordered a yellow coat on Vestiare Collective so fingers crossed as nice as your one. Great outfit
ReplyDeleteYou do colour so well, Frances. Stunning as always. Lynne xx
ReplyDeleteYou're one of the few people who do colours and does it well - you have the confidence to carry it off and the know how. And the yellow coat - the more I look at it, the more I want it!
ReplyDeleteThere was a time when I could do an 8 hour shift pacing a shop floor in 4 inch heels, but I'm so out of practice these days! I love that Boden have done a mid heel option, and I'm so tempted...You're looking great as always, I wish I had your colour confidence. I feel as though I've pushed the boat out if I put something on that isn't black or grey ;-) xx
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of how you wear and mix up the colours Frances....you look amazing in this ensemble! The shoes are utterly stunning....I just wish I had the kind of lifestyle that would mean I would get some where out of them! xx
ReplyDeleteJust stunning - you make it all work! I ordered the Alice shoes but was gutted I had to return them - I have wide feet and they were too narrow :( xx
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning
ReplyDeleteYou wear colour so well, Frances. I on the other hand love my blacks and greys and am naturally drawn to a more muted palette. Having said that I absolutely adore seeing a tastefully put together colourful outfit, and you are one of those rare women that is not only brave enough to wear Colour but does it so so well. Simply bravo :) x
ReplyDeleteThey look perfect on you!
