Beautiful Bouquets

Style Theory: Florals exploded onto the catwalks again this SS14 in many different guises.
Mary Katranzou SS14
Flower prints moved away from the refined ditzy style of 2013 and went slightly larger or were placed on a dark background for a more dramatic, 'midnight garden' look. Designers applied 3d flowers to their clothes, Mary Katranzou's appliqued flowers in beautiful colours to her dresses, Mulberry added 3d leather flowers to their pastel clutches and Roksanda Ilincic applied her 3d flowers to simple silhouettes making them truly stand out. And of course the High Street is hot on the heels of the designers producing some fab floral clothing to bring Spring into your wardrobe.

Here are the designer catwalk looks that inspired this season's floral trend:
Mulberry SS14
Christopher Kane SS14
Alberta Ferretti SS14
Temperley London SS14
Matthew Williamson SS14
Roksanda Ilincic SS14
Dolce and Gabbana SS14

Stella McCartney ss14
Now for some inspiration from the fabulous streetstylers:

I love the mix of colours, florals allow you to mix so many coloured accessories together and still look coordinated.
I love a floral sweatshirt and have found a few of the best on the high street in my selection below. This sweatshirt has been 'dressed up' with fabulous gold court shoes.
This look ticks quite a few trends, black and white, floral and a bomber jacket, all should not work together but this season it does..it is all about dressing down while dressing up.
A classic look, keeping floral shirts non mumsey by pairing them with heels and skinny jeans. I love the pop of colour with the yellow bag (see last post for Topshop version)
Checks, black and white and floral..stunning
All images Above from Pinterest

To make this trend wearable now in these cold, wintery days I would take just one floral item and dress it down:
A floral T-shirt/blouse with a biker jacket, a pair of distressed boyfriend/skinny jeans and boots.
A floral skirt with a chunky black/grey jumper (or black poloneck) opaque tights and chunky ankle boots.

So here is my round up of the best florals on the high street you can buy now..
Alexander McQueen @ Liberty £195
I know this is super expensive but I just love it, the colours, the detail of the embroidery. I am sure there will be many 'homages' to this exact one on the High Street soon...I will keep an eye out for this or wait for the sales!
Topshop Abstract Mesh Sweat by Boutique £130
Again, very much a top-end of budget jumper. The colours are stunning and I really like the mesh detail at the waist, obviously after two kids, I would need some kind of girdle-like vest top to wear underneath but if you had a fab waist this would look gorgeous!
Mango Floral Sweatshirt £29.99
This Mango and the Warehouse sweater below, fit perfectly into the 'Midnight Garden' trend, wear them with black skinny jeans and boots now for a gothic cool look and then in the spring wear with with ankle skimming, pale blue boyfriend jeans and little pale pink pink ballet pumps.
Warehouse Floral Sweater £42.00

Topshop Satin Orchid Ribbed Sweat £34
This is slightly more 'out there' as a floral top but it looks absolutely gorgeous on, it will take you through to summer beautifully. Topshop had it styled under some denim dungarees which looked fab (although admittedly dungarees are an acquired taste) The colours on the top ensure it looks as good with black leather jeans now as with blue or white jeans in the summer..gorgeous.

Topshop Embellished Sweater £40
A great basic sweater with a beautiful embellished twist.

Zara Technical Fabric Top with Jewel £29.99
This is a great top if you have a tummy as it is a thicker fabric and skims over any bumps and lumps, the styling is very reminiscent of the Mulberry SS14 look, there is also a similar pale pink top in Zara with embellishment but it has just sold out online..it is really lovely and worth having a look out for in store.
Topshop Cocktail Mix Print Tee £38
This has a real retro vibe, it has matching trousers which may be too much all together at the moment, I would dress this down with jeans.

Topshop Mirror Flower Tee by Workshop £25
I have this tee and adore the fluro colours on it.

Zara Floral Top £25.99

Zara Plush T Shirt £19.99
Such a reasonable way to work the trend, I love this with the white skirt but for now I would pick up the black on the collar and wear with black skinny jeans.

Zara Printed Trousers £25.99
Printed Trousers can be tricky to wear but the black background on this selection makes them more forgiving.

River Island at ASOS £35

River Island Pink Floral print cigarette pants £35
I really like the bold print on these trousers, they would look great in the summer with a  pale grey marl tee and a biker jacket and little black pointed pumps.
Topshop Flower Fold Skirt £38
This is such a cute skirt, it really caught my eye in store, I would wear it now with a black chunky knit jumper, black opaque tights and black ankle boots and in the summer with a chambray shirt and trainers.

Topshop Embellished Skirt £60
This skirt is fabulously versatile, it ticks the cobalt blue trend, embellished and floral, wear with a denim shirt and round neck jumper for a preppy J Crew look.

M&S Limited Edition Court Shoes £29.50
These are fabulous shoes, the printed fabric is very Mary Kratranzou and the heel height is perfect with 'insolia technology' in the sole of the shoe making them quite comfortable...I was sold immediately!

So there is my round up of Floral delights from the High Street...quite flower-tastic! Another trend I have fallen for and will definitely be wearing it more and more as the days get slightly less freezing!

My style over the past couple of days:

Off out with friends for dinner in my new shoes above. I tried two outfits, I ended up wearing the black jumper rather than the pink as it is winter, I am pasty and the black looked a little better.

Coat: M&S
Jumper: Topshop
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: M&S

Coat: M&S
Jumper: Topshop
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: M&S
At day out and about, I shoved my big Zara parka over this outfit and my feet were covered with attractive knee high tights..nice..but I cannot bear cold feet!
Biker Jacket: Asos
Jumper: Asos
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Zara
So are you into a bit of Flower Power this Spring, what kind of florals will you be wearing..if any?
As always I would love to hear your comments and thoughts.
