Styling Editsecondhand

Style Theory: Editsecondhand is a beautiful boutique and online store specialising in preloved designer clothing and handbags. The team expertly edit each item to ensure they are of the highest quality and only buy items they would have in their own closets. I am a huge fan and have bought quite a few pieces so when I was asked to style one of their Pre-Fall shoots  I jumped at the chance...armed with a collection of my shoes and trainers I headed to the boutique and here are are a few shots images from the shoot...

I adored this maxi dress, it drapes perfectly and the print is in soft, muted colours. It would work beautifully with heels but I decided to style it with trainers to give it a more 'urban edge'..love it and the elegant Halston Heritage clutch.

Necklace - contact EditSecondhand
Clutch - Halston Heritage £40
Trainers - Adidas Superstar £64.99 @Office

It was such a joy to work with all the designer quality dresses as they are beautifully cut and fell perfectly at the shoulders and arms. Unfortunately the Masscob dress has since sold as has the Isabel Marant belt and necklace, it is worth checking the editsecondhand website often as they have new items coming in all the time and there are some amazing dresses for a fraction of their original price all in amazing condition.
Bag - contact editsecondhand
Sandals - Next sold out similar here
Me styling - note to self never get a photo of dungarees from behind ;-)
Top - Isabel Marant Etoile  - sold
Jeans - Victoria Beckham DVB £80
Clutch - Halston Heritage £40 - as above
Shoes -  Mascaro (size 40) £80
The DVB jeans are a waist 29 and are incredibly flattering, the ankle length is perfect and would look great in the winter with a pair of tan ankle boots.
Jacket - Isabel Marant - sold
Trousers - Paige - sold
T- shirt - J Brand £45
Trainers - as above
Bag - mine from Spain
The bomber jacket trend is sailing straight into AW15 so a denim bomber is ideal for this season. I am slightly obsessed with stripy trousers as I think they look amazing in the winter with an oversize black, chunky jumper and black ankle boots and a pair of sunglasses..adore these ones..ah-ma-zing
Tom Ford @editsecondhand £135
I find this shape of sunglasses (& my vision glasses are similar) really flattering on my square face as they seem to 'lift' it a little making it look a little less round/square a little more heart shaped. These Tom Ford sunglasses would look so sleek and stylish in the winter with an all black outfit.
Jacket - Iro £140
Top - Swildens £40
Bag - Anya Hindmarch £350
Sandals - H&M
This bomber jacket would look great in the summer over pale blue jeans and a white boho top and in the winter with a cream, pussybow blouse and dark blue flared jeans and tan heeled boots. Love the fact the Anya Hindmarch bag is tan and black so in the winter will look fabulous with an all black outfit, a stand out piece.
A similar Iro jacket worn by Kate Hudson - looks stunning on..

Here are a few other pieces that I am lusting over on editsecondhand:

From top left clockwise - Black Dress - See by Chloe £100 - Black Jacket - Chanel £900
Black Bag - Chanel £900 - Leopard Print Shoes - Christian Louboutin £100 - Brogues -Church's £150
Khaki jeans - Balmain £100

Designer heaven for a fraction of the price..perfect. It is absolutely worth checking out the editsecondhand website and signing up to the newsletters which inform you of all the new stock that is arriving - and you can return items (within 7 days - see terms and conditions) if they do not fit.

I loved styling the Schoolrunstyle Edit, it was such fun and the team at editsecondhand are fab!

Are you a fan of preloved items, do you, like me adore designer pieces for affordable prices? I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time, Frances xxx

Spring Spotlight on....Next

Style Theory: Sometimes a retailer just catches your eye with an item which then focuses your attention on a range that you may have not normally looked at. This season for me it is Next, I have to be honest I do not shop very often in Next but this season they have some really fabulous items that I could not resist.

Here is what caught my eye and how I styled the items...

The first was these trainers, I was on the look out for a pair of black trainers and these fit the bill. Light, comfortable and really reasonable, they would give my outfits a little twist and would make the school run a breeze..
Next Floral Flexi Trainers £35
They are fab, really soft with a inner sole that supports your foot.

The Faux Leather Joggers:
Whilst in Next looking at the trainers I spotted these fab faux leather joggers, perfect for dressing down..
Sweater: H&M similar here
Faux Leather Trousers: Next £30
Trainers: Next £35
Or Dress up the trousers with a pair of heels..
Sweater: as above
Trousers: Next as above
Shoes: Nine West similar here
Not too Kanye, light and versatile these joggers have fabric inner so not too hot!

The Spring 2015 look:
I am smitten with pale greys at the moment especially after spotting quite a few pale grey ensembles on the AW15catwalks for New York fashion week.
This little lace skirt would look fab with heels but due to my adversion to be anything but comfortable at the moment I styled with my adidas Superstars and pink coat...
Jacket: M&S
Sweater: Next £45
Skirt: Next £45
Bag: TKMaxx
Trainers: Adidas Superstar

I like the fine mesh of the skirt and lace details, it would look lovely in the summer with a grey T-shirt and silver strappy sandals. Or could be dressed up with a pair of silver heels and a pale grey blouse for a beautiful summer look.

So all in all Next did have quite a few gems in it's Spring collection, I will be able to use these key items time and time again in my wardrobe.

Are you a Next fan, do you shop there? This is not a sponsored post, I just was quite impressed with the range..

As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time, Frances xx

Winter Berries

Style Theory: Berry, Wine, Burgundy, the beautiful rich, deep, red colour is AW14 must have. Whether worn as a coat, cosy jumper or shoes, this warm hue will add a touch of winter decadence to any outfit.
Berry trainers look fab with a camel coat
Clash berry with pink for a cool look.
Toughen up your berry coloured coat by layering up over a biker jacket
Just adore everything about this outfit

Berry is a truly versatile colour, it looks fabulous with camel, navy, khaki and of course black. However, if you are feeling a little bolder wear with pink (my favourite combination) or orange for a statement look.

Here are a selection of some stunning Berry items available on the high street now:
Warehouse Winter Coat £95
This is a beautiful coat on, looks great without the (detachable) fur collar also. I tried this on yesterday, not a great photo but this may give you an idea of how it looks.

It is a lovely shape and looks cute on. I would take off the fur and wear with a huge navy tartan scarf as in the Pinterest photo above..this one from Ebay is perfect..
Ebay £18.20
I have never bought from this seller on Ebay so just double check feedback before buying!

A sweater is a great way to add a contemporary colour to an outfit. These sweaters are cosy and would look fab with skinny jeans (love this colour with khaki jeans)
Baukjen Roll Neck Jumper £129
Gap Merino Sweater £39.95
Most people have a pair of jeans at home in this berry colour from a few years ago. Why not pull them out and update your look by wearing them with a pink jumper, a khaki parka and a pair of Stan Smith trainers, these colours look great mixed up and make a cool style statement. If you do not have them already try these from Topshop..

Topshop Leigh Jeans £38
Here is what I teamed my jeans with last week..
Sweater: River Island
Jeans: Topshop
Trainers: Stan Smith
Or wear with a berry T-shirt for a coordinated look..
Topshop Zip Back Tee £18
Zara Faux Leather Pleated Skirt £39.99
Pair this skirt with the Gap merino sweater above and a pair of pointed snakeskin flat pumps.
Next Strap Detail Point Heels £35
Super elegant shoes, would add a beautiful touch of colour to a black jumpsuit or dress.

I have featured this bag before and I do love it, it ticks the trend perfectly. I would team with a camel coat.
Aldo Bag £50
This is such a warm, comforting colour and definitely will be featured again and again in my A/W14 wardrobe.

My Style
This was an outfit from from last year but the colours still work this year..
Coat: M&S
Gilet: Primark
Sweater: zara
Jeans: 7ForAll Mankind
Trainers: Adidas Superstars
For a night out with my fab university friends. The first outing for my black M&S culottes, they are so amazingly comfortable and easy to wear, I am a huge culotte convert! We realised it was 20 years since we started university together (argghhhh!!)
Sweater: Cos
Culottes: M&S
Jacket: Asos
Bag: Topshop
Scarf: Becksondergaard
Trainers: Adidas StanSmith
For a day out and about shopping..
Sweater: Whistles
Jeans: Topshop
Shoes: Russell and Bromley
Bag: M&S
Coat: M&S

There concludes my round out of my fave berry items and a few of my outfits from the last week! Will you be indulging in the Berry trend, do you have lots of items accumulated from the last couple of years that you can wear this year?

As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time, Frances xxx

Next Bomber Jacket - 6 Ways - 6 Bloggers

Style Theory: The Bomber Jacket, the outerwear shape this Spring and Summer. It is cool, laidback and edgy, either in florals, silk, denim or jersey, the bomber is a versatile jacket that can be dressed up or down. It is fabulous for flinging on for the schoolrun, can be layered on top of a biker or denim jacket or in the summer can be worn over dresses to add an urban edge.

The Challenge: Next sent 6 Mum Fashion Bloggers a jersey bomber jacket to style their way and this is how we styled them:

1 - What Lizzie Loves
2 - Avenue 57
3 - Me (obvs!)
4 - SchoolGateStyle
5 - Poppy's Style
6 - My Fashionable 40s
We could choose either red or grey and as you can see all had a different take on the bomber, showing that it looks just as great with heels as it does with trainers...

I chose the red jacket, the fabric is a mid weight, quilted jersey so it really lends itself to layering, I wore my denim jacket and a grey sweater underneath, and paired it with black ankle length jeans and my trusty Adidas Superstar trainers. This is my comfort zone, I had a busy day of running around after the kids, parties, swimming etc so practicality reigned supreme as usual.
Bomber Jacket: c/o Next
Denim Jacket: Warehouse similar here
Sweater: Zara similar here
Jeans: Oasis
Trainers: Adidas
Sunglasses: RayBans Wayfarers
It is a great alternative to the traditional cardigan, the red is a beautiful vibrant shade so looks good paired with greys, denims and black.

I was a little slow off the mark with the bomber jacket trend but I am now a convert and do tend to wear them instead of my usual cardigans/coats.
Next Quilted Bomber Jacket £38
Next Quilted Bomber Jacket £38
Are you a fan of the bomber jacket, did you jump on board the trend a bit quicker than my slightly late arrival?! Or do you prefer a more tailored look?

I would love hear your comments as always, till next time, Frances x
