Cosy and Delicious the Pink Jumper

Style Theory: Winter warmer = a autumn/winter 'must have' and this season it has got to be a jumper and it has got to be PINK...

It is official, pink is in. Pink jumpers are fabulously flattering, they illuminate the complexion and are a super versatile item in your wardrobe. It is worth trying on a few different shades to find your perfect colour match, there are so many options out there to suit everyone. It looks as though pink is going to be hot news in Spring summer 14 so you are safe in the knowledge you will get a couple of seasons wear out of your purchase!

Here are some streetstyle looks for inspiration:

I love the bobble detail and cute white shirt underneath

Pair your pink jumper with a pair of leather/leather look skinnies and last seasons wine colour..it works..

Understated cool

Fabulous, oversized, soft pink jumper

Pair with your skinny jeans cut at ankle length.

Pink and red..you can clash and look fabulous.

Pink working with last years wine colour and fab leopard Vans style trainers

Add a pop of colour to a trench

Super slouchy

And now for my favourite high street finds:

I am a big fan of Jigsaw's knitwear at the moment they seem to have the fabric and cuts just perfect. The jumpers are pricey but as soon as you put them on all is forgiven as they hang so perfectly and feel luxurious.
Jigsaw Cashmere Raglan Jumper £149

A beautiful pale pink, cashmere jumper in a casual sweater style, purely luxurious but it would be a main player in your capsule wardrobe. Maybe one for the extra special Christmas list...?

Jigsaw Lambswool Blend Dropped Hem Jumper £89

The colour of the jumper in the photo is not a true representation of the true, beautiful, rick dark lilac/ pink colour. It is beautiful, I have tried it on, it is oversized and hangs beautifully, looks equally good by itself or with a denim shirt underneath.

Boden:
Boden Merino Crew Jumper £59

A beautiful vibrant colour, Boden knitwear tends to fit well, true to size and washes well. This is a great basic for your wardrobe.

Topshop have a plethora of pink jumpers to choose from and here are my favourites:
Topshop Knitted Angora Fluffy Jumper £40

A fabulous bubblegum pink colour, although beware... extremely fluffy and malts so avoid with black jeans.

Topshop Knitted Fine Gauge Top £35

A gorgeous basic, this jumper would look fab with a camouflage/army green jacket thrown over the top or add a statement necklace (with turquoise stones) for impact on a night out.
Topshop Mixed Stitch Jumper £36

A fabulous slouchy bright pink jumper, sling on over a pair of skinnies and wait for the compliments, it such a rich colour it will suit all skintones.

River Island:

River Island Angora Cocoon Jumper £50

This River Island jumper is a fab tone and shape.

H&M:
H&M Fine Knit Jumper £14.99
A very basic and affordable light pink jumper from H&M

Zara:

Zara Boat Neck Sweater £12.99

A beautiful fine knit chalk pink sweater, perfect for tucking into midi skirts or high waisted pencil skirts, beware of the very pale pink as if you are pale like me this will wash out your complexion. To avoid this colour draining you add a darker tonal pink scarf (think purply pink more than orangey pink) or a sparkly necklace to add radiance and sparkle.

Primark:

It is always worth popping into Primark they have a range of fab pink jumpers starting from £7.

And here are a few of my pink looks:

Scarf: Primark
jumper: River Island
pink shirt: Gap
straight jeans: Gap
Trainers: New Balance

Coat: M&S
Navy Jumper: H&M
Jeans: Gap
Trainers: New Balance

Neon Pink jumper: H&M
Trench: Topshop
Jeans: Gap
Leopard Belt: Primark
Leopard Shoes: Nine West
Pink Coat: M&S
Pink Jumper: Primark (£7!)
Black Jeans: Oasis
Ballet pumps: Russell and Bromley

Are you jumping on the pink jumper wagon? Next time a bit of sparkle with some beautiful embellished jumpers.. x

The Midi Skirt

Style Theory: Slow burner = a trend that has been ellusive for a couple of decades and is now slowly filtering into the high street and looks like it is here to stay!
The midi skirt....it is a tricky one but when styled correctly can look amazing with an edge of cool. It was featured again and again on the SS14 catwalk so if the designers are insisting we get to grips with it, the high street will follow. To get it right you really have to think 70s with a twist, in the summer the midi skirt looks great with strappy sandals and a Tee but right now it looks good with a chunky jumper and 70s knee high boots or little round toed shoe boots..Olivia Palermo gets it right below. It is all about working the proportions and throwing on the right contrasting jacket (bikers work well) to avoid it looking too 'mumsey'.

Here's my pick of the best streetstylers:

Stunning styling I love the mix of pattern, floral, plaid and fur, all styled with a chunky white knit.
Fabulous, flippy skirt, styled simply with a grey fine knit jumper and statement necklace.

Ladylike chic, styled beautifully but perhaps not apt for the schoolrun?!

Cool, understated, easy to replicate.

Love the red leather skirt, looks amazing.

I love these net skirts, beautiful for christmas...more to come on a later blog in time for christmas parties.

Plaid and leopard print shoes..a match made in heaven.

Muted tones but ticking a multitude of trends; midi, plaid, chunky knit jumpers, leather.
Love the midi styled with a plaid shirt.

The stunning designer versions:

Stella McCartney pinstripe skirt £600
Michael Kors £1075

And now for the best on the high street:

Zara black skirt £39.99

This is a conservative start for the newbies of the midi, I have this skirt..I am a newbie! It is nicely tailored, hugs the hips then flares nicely just below the knees, it is easy to style up and definitely looks better with a shorter jumper. Wear with leopard print shoes and a fine grey jumper tucked in for a fabulous going out look.

Zara grey skirt £69.99

Another Zara skirt but in grey, easy to wear, I would pair with a slightly darker grey jumper and a chunky, crystal necklace.

Topshop chiffon plaid midi skirt £48.00
Going a little braver with a  beautiful pink check skirt, looks fab styled with this beautiful mint jumper and nude heels but would also look fab with a grey jumper and boots.

Asos midi skirt £40.00
A beautiful, pale pink midi skirt, would look fab with grey ankle boots and a grey jumper.

Asos pane check skirt £40.00

A classic and chic skirt from Asos, would look fab with a chambray or fine denim shirt tucked in, equally cool with a chunky knit black jumper. Btw, I think those boots are cool too.

Asos plaid skirt £55.00
I love this plaid Asos skirt, looks fab, it is perhaps, a 'one season wonder' purchase but would look cool right now.

Asos rust camoflage midi skirt £50.00
This is slightly more out there but I am drawn to it, gorgeous colours and it has pockets (I love pockets) It would look fab as a going out skirt but could also be dressed down with a black chunky jumper.

Here are a few options of tops that you could wear with the skirts above:

Asos black pocket jumper £20
This is a fab basic, you could wear with any of the above maxi skirts.

Gap fine knit jumper £19.95
Tuck this fine knit sweater into a midi skirt and throw on a jewelled necklace to replicate the fab street style look above

Gap chambray shirt £29.95

A capsule collection piece; the chambray shirt, this is a beautiful shirt cut slim so it can easily be tucked into a midi skirt but would look equally great tucked into skinny darker blue jeans or coloured jeans as seen above.

Topshop knitted jumper £46.00
This chunky knit, fisherman jumper could also be part of your capsule collection as the style is repeated year after year, season after season.

I hope this sheds a little light on the midi situation...are you a midi girl, will you be taking the plunge this winter??
